There is a bug in Akeeba Backup (prior to version 6.6.0) which cause the restoration of a backup of your YourSites server to fail. The Akeeba developers very quickly resolved the issue after we raised a ticket. All users of Akeeba Backup are advised to upgrade to the latest version. This bug only affects backups of the YourSites server and does not affect backups of client sites in any way.
You can now manage your WordPress/ClassicPress sites alongside your Joomla sites.
Version 1.5.0 of YourSites introduced an exciting new feature - Support for WordPress & ClassicPress sites. If you enable this on the 'Experimental Settings' tab of the YourSites config you can install the client plugin on a WP or CP site to track and apply updates. Try it out on the demo site.
In a very short time we released V1.7.5 -> 1.7.8 of our very popular YourSites component to manage multiple Joomla! and Wordpress sites.
Version 1.7.5 came with some new features and significant performance gains within the list views when viewing hundreds of sites. Great! however, we started getting reports of complete lockups of the extensions view, sites view and even the backups view. This really concerned us, we had done our pre-release testing on a variety of configurations - some on local servers and some remote and had not encountered these issues. Strangely, after the reports started to come in, we found that the problems seem to be related to the speed of the internet connection - a user with full fibre broadband was seeing a problem and another on a 3G mobile phone connection to the same YourSites server was not seeing the issue.
Perhaps most excitingly you can now set site specific backup times - you can set a schedule of backups, monthly, weekly or daily selecting specific dates/days and time(s) and we include suggested cronjob interval information on the config page.
One of the issues that our users encounter in making the transition to YourSites from the myJoomla online service - is cleaning up the database tables left behind when uninstalling the myJoomla plugin from their client sites.
YourSites version 1.1.0 improves the way we validate calls from the YourSites server to the client sites so as to avoid a theoretical timing attack (see http://php.net/manual/en/function.hash-hmac.php#111435). This risk was, however, negligible in version 1.0.0 since each hash was only used once (see below for more detail) and due to the high variability of timing of web requests.
The security of your data with YourSites is always at the top of our minds. We are therefore pleased to introduce some security enhancements in YourSites version 1.4.4. These address completely theoretical security risks in versions 1.4.3 and earlier.
In addition to these security enhancements we have added a new documentation article all about how to make your YourSites server/configuration as secure are possible. See Setting up a Secure YourSites Server for more detail.
We love every single one of our users, without you YourSites simply couldn't happen! So we would love a review at the Joomla! JED so we can let others know about us too, please take a minute to write a review:
If you feel you have something negative to say, we would implore you to speak to us first, as we really really don't want anyone to be unhappy!
