Adding Sites to YourSites is Easy

Migration of Sites From Online Service

If you are using an oinline site manager like Watchful you can import your sites into YourSites very easily (see Easy Migration from Online Site Management Service for more details)

Easiest Setup

If your YourSites server is accessible online and can be reached by your client sites.

1. Install YourSites on your chosen server
2. View the list of sites in YourSites

3. The list of sites is initially empty and you are given some helpful instructions on setting up your first site

   

4. Click the 'Download client' button (under the 'Joomla' heading)  - this downloads a server specific version of the client plugin

   

5. A message pops up to give you advise on how to securely install the plugin on the client site

   

6. Install the downloaded client plugin on the sites you wish to manage.

7. If this succeeds in creating a connection to the YourSites server then you will see a message like the following

   

   If you see an error message at this stage saying the plugin was unable to establish a secure connection then please read the 'Alternative Setup' instructions below.

8. View the list of sites on your YourSites management server - the connection between the client sites and the management server is setup and secured automatically.

   

Alternative Setup (when server not accessible online)

If your YourSites server is not accessible online e.g. is running on your local PC or not listed in DNS you will need to do the setup slightly differently.

1. Install YourSites on your chosen server
2. View the list of sites in YourSites

3. Add your sites manually by clicking 'Add Site' and adding the site details

   

   OR you can import a series of sites on one go using the CSV Import button. You can download a sample CSV file on the CSV import page (from the Sites menu icon on the left of the page).

4. Next click the 'Download plugin' button highlighted in the following image (or select the site using the checkbox of the left and clicking Joomla->Site Specific YourSites from the top menu) - this downloads a server specific version of the client plugin.

   

5. Install the downloaded client plugin on the specific sites have selected above. Please note that this plugin package is unique to this site and will not work if you try to install it on any other site.

6. View the list of sites on your YourSites management server - the connection between the client sites and the management server is setup and secured automatically

   

Tip

Don't forget to install the YourSites client on your YourSites server!

Browser Support

YourSites is designed to work with the latest web browsers - it will work in the latest versions of all the major browsers apart from Internet Explorer (it will work with Edge though).
